Embedded on foot

I noticed my baby had something on her foot but after wiping it down I realized it was embedded in her foot. It's very small and I'm not sure what it is , I've been picking at it with nail clippers now that she's asleep but it won't budge. How else can I take it out ? It's very small and very deep into her skin. I've never seen this on her foot before which is why I think it may be

like a splinter or something sharp that made its way through. Any ideas on how to take it out ? ** zoom into the pic , it's the small brown dot. but up close it has more of a rectangle shape
