I think monogamy is realistic as long as you know there might be slip-ups along the way....monogamish?

I like monogamy. It works for me, maybe not everyone else, but that's fine. My husband is monogamous and believes it's wrong to have sexual relations with someone else. He and I are on the same page which is all that matters.

My ex was not monogamous. Eventually I found out about it and it was clear he was a habitual cheater. I ended it. I also got screened for stds as I found he was having sex with many women without protection. He wasn't just cheating on me, he was literally risking my life without my knowledge or consent. Not ok with me. 11 years later and we are still friendly. He's still unmarried and unattached and happy that way. He says he would be monogamous for me. I roll my eyes at that comment. It's not cut out for everyone at all.

If you aren't monogamous, that's cool. Just be honest about it and find someone on the same page as you.

it's not monogamy if you have sex with other people lol. so if you plan on slipping up, you're not monogamous by definition.

My fiance and I are polyamourous. We wouldn't go off without each other and have sex with other people but bringing in a new person if we both consent can spice things up ;) it also makes it so that we can both check out other people but then we bring it up to the other, and check people out together.

If meaningless sex is so unimportant, then why even do it in the first place? If you are in a monogamous relationship, meaningless sex is cheating. Jay Z didn't get tired of sleeping with Beyoncé, he thought he could get away with having more. If you think monogamy is gonna get boring, find someone down with an open relationship where only meaningless sex is okay.

If you're not already, start reading Dan Savage's columns. You'll find some support for the monogamish concept. Slip-ups can happen because people are human. You and your significant other(s) should be communicating about your wants, needs, expectations, etc. You might start by defining what "cheating" or a "slip-up" is. Your definitions might be different.
