Should I Switch OBs at 36 weeks?

I have a wait time of almost an hour or more every appointment! She always speeds through my appointments when I finally get back there and hasn't asked me anything about a birthing plan, etc that I would think would be typical? Everyone says she's the best but I feel like she doesn't even know who I am since she's constantly busy. She's even leaving town August 1st through the 8th and I'm due the 12th? What if she's not here when I go into labor? I'd be so mad.. am I over reacting??

there is usually a cut off week that providers will take pregnant women.  I just switched at 35 weeks and I just made the cut off. different places have different weeks. this is my 5th pregnancy and I've learned thst no matter who your doctor is, how comfortable you are with them (depending on how many are in the practice) there is a chance they may not deliver the child. My last child, none of my doctors from the practice came to the hospital.  I had a hospital doctor deliver.  and by then I was ready to push the child out I didn't care who was down there. plus with 4 weeks till your due date you probably wouldn't have time to get to know a new doctor.

Your care provider should make you feel safe and supported. If you think you can find a midwife or doctor who helps you feel that way, then by all means try to switch. You MIGHT be stuck but you'll definitely be stuck if you don't try. Having a baby is the last place you want to have someone around who you don't feel supported by.

At least you get to pick your doctor! Facey is laking me get whoever is on call the day I deliver. I had to meet 8 doctors and just hope a good one is working

If you get pregnant again go with a midwife. The reason I didn't go with an OB is because I was warned that they tend to not be as personal as midwives. I really desired a lot of communication.

I'm currently 33 weeks but and going to be moving 4 hours away (my husband graduated from college in may and has been on the job hunt since January and finally got a career so it's not like we can't move) ... I called every practice in the vicinity of where I'm moving too and not one doctor will take me on at 36+weeks

Most doctors won't even accept new patients after a certain amount of weeks. You might be stuck. Is there maybe another doctor in the practice that you can see?
