odd hcg levels
Hi all! I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen. On July 8, the lab accidentally ran a pregnancy test instead of an estradiol test. My hcg was 3, and the doctor didn't catch that until several hours after my insemination on July 10. They called that afternoon and instructed me to have another pregnancy test in 7 days and again in 14 days. It's been 7 days since the insemination (9 days since the first blood test) and my hcg today was 5. I'm guessing it's too soon to see a pregnancy, so now I'm wondering what's causing an artificially elevated hcg. In the past, my hcg has always been under 1 when not pregnant. Any thoughts? I'm almost 44 and I've been through alot of assisted fertility cycles in the past 2 years... maybe this is a result of too many fertility meds? This last cycle, I had Clomid twice a day for 5 days, plus 4 vials of Menopur for 8 days. We had 2 miscarriages last year and more BFN's than I can count. Sometimes I think the hubs and I can't take any more heartbreak. Prayers and baby dust to all!
