So we just had our first fertility appt... wow so much info in seemingly 5 minutes but really 3+ hours. My Dr. is great, very warm, whole clinic staff very kind. But at 38 and my first attempt, and info flew past me and I felt like I left with a half ream of paper of info and a migraine! since I'm ama and therefore hrp automatically I guess they encouraged genetic testing... mainly cystic fibrosis... I was mainly concerned with downs syndrome so was blind sided by C.F... I guess they're gonna fast track me so on this Thursday (expected cd1) I call and get an ultrasound before sat (cd3), then Clomid day 5-10, then the "shot" at 9pm, 36 hours before YOU, then 10% chance of "taking" with 7% chance of multiples.... I don't know of CF on either side of our families, but because I'm 75%-ish Irish decent with an uncle with spinal bifida they're recommending genetic testing first for me in case insurance doesn't accept it and I'll have to pay the 350 or they toss the bloodwork in4 days... whew I'm just overwhelmed, I am working thru the VA health system (I'm an disabled AF retiree) for 4 years just to get this appt so to get all this info so quickly I'm overwhelmed... anyway my CD1 is only Thursday this week so I don't have alot of time to process, plus the hubby just was dx with pneumonia on Sat so he's still feverish so it's kinda me just batting in the wind... any comments or help would be much appreciated, I know I haven't really asked a question, but just seeking advice from anyone else that may ever been placed in this situation. thanks!!???!! =)
