Dye test AND laparoscopy??

I had my first fertility appointment at the hospital this week and the gynie advised the next step is a HSG to check my tubes and also he mentioned 'a check for endometriosis' and he will do both at the same time, describing it as an 'operation'.
My understanding for a dye test is that you stay awake? Would he procedure to check for endo be a laparoscopy? In the rush of it all, I forgot to ask!!

The procedure to check for endometriosis IS laparoscopic surgery - you're right - but I don't know that I've ever heard of doing an HSG at the same time? You have to be unconscious for laparoscopy and you don't for HSG. My HSG was done at a surgery center, but I wasn't even anesthetized or anything. If you're awake for the HSG, take 800mg Ibuprofen an hour before to help with the cramping!

You are not necessarily awake with the dye test. I had it down while I was under anesthesia during my diagnostic laparoscopy. Your doctor is being nice and saving you from the pain by doing it during your surgery.

Hello. So I had a HSG in April fully conscious through the NHS. My results were a bit confusing so now I've got to have the laparoscopic operation where they will perform the dye procedure so that they can see it within real time rather than in x-ray...this will be under GA. I hope yours goes ok

I had it done it's fast feels like no cramps to crazy cramps but your awake for a surgery I would think unless you already been diagnosed to get a surgery done
