Heartbeat?

Is 10 weeks too early to hear a heart beat? I went in for a regular prenatal checkup and the doctor said he wasn't going to try to listen to the heartbeat because it was too early.

i had an internal ultrasound at 6 weeks and got the heart beat! it was 104 at 6 weeks and i am 8 weeks now. Don't go back to the doc for a couple weeks.

He probably takes the safer route of 12+ weeks because it may cause a lot of undue stress on mothers if he can't find it before then. Maybe he's tried earlier in the past and it made the women upset and overly worried that they couldn't hear it. My OB and midwife team won't try until 12 weeks either.

My sister is a midwife and she says 10wks is the very earliest you can hear with a Doppler, and then only on super skinny people. She doesn't generally even try before 12wks

Many times it's still hard to find the heartbeat then. The doctor couldn't find my baby's around that time so they brought in the ultrasound machine.

I heard the heartbeat at the doctor at 9+1. At home doppler picked it up at 10+6.

With my first pregnancy-our son.. we heard the heartbeat at 6-7 weeks with a droppler... 😉

At my first ultrasound at 9 weeks we didn't hear it but the tech let us see it. She showed us how you could actually see the heart beating and the blood moving through the umbilical cord. That was reassuring.
