Cribs?

Question

How necessary is a crib? I've heard from several people that they never actually used theirs. What did you use instead?

I used the crib from 4 months until 2.5 when I converted it to the toddler/day bed. 
My daughter loved her bed and so did I. I know plenty of people who didn't use it, and their life is more difficult. If I decided to shower but she woke up, I didn't have to worry about her safety. Not to mention when we started to teach her to fall asleep on her own, she wasn't able to crawl all over her room or escape.

My baby will be in a crib from day 1 (her crib will be in our bedroom). So for us, it is extremely necessary.
Also, the crib we got came with all the attachments to convert it to a toddler bed, day bed, and full size bed. It also came with a changing table with 3 drawers. All that for $187, and we didn't need to buy a dresser for baby clothes. Definitely worth it for us 😊

We're using a crib from day one as there isn't a whole lot of room in our bedroom to keep them in there. I move around in my sleep a lot and our bed would be too much of a suffocation hazard to even attempt to co-sleep with two babies.

I got both a crib and a rock & play. She ended up sleeping with me in my bed. She sleep in the rock & play during the day because it's easy to move into whatever room I'm in. When she's older I plan on putting her in the crib. I'm just too paranoid to do that right now. It's whatever you think you'll use. You never really know until the baby is here.
