Will/Did you do NIPT?

Question

I got asked if I want to do NIPT like the Harmony test by my doc. I have a couple weeks to decide. I'm on the fence, I want to know, but I'm worried about false positives and such. I'm not technically at risk for anything. Is it worth doing?

We didn't do the testing but found issues at our anatomy scan that turned out to be a chromosomal issue. I still am glad I didn't do the early blood testing because it wouldn't have shown what my son has anyway. The false positives I see these ladies post about is heartbreaking.

None of that was really offered to me. I'm 15 weeks today. I'll be seeing a high risk specialist this Friday anyway.

NIPT has a much lower rate of false positives because they are actually testing the baby's DNA rather than testing things in your blood and entering it into an equation that gives you a "probability" your baby could have issues. 
I was on the fence with testing because I didn't want a percentage which is what you get with traditional testing...I knew my age would automatically skew it and I knew there was no way I would do a CVS test. We didn't think we would terminate but I didn't want to worry for months, but even still wanted to have the opportunity to learn about a disorder prior to birth if that was the case. Once I found out I would get the NIPT because I am over 35 I felt much better because of the type of test it was. 
Do some research and see how you feel, but that was my reasoning. good luck!

We weren't high risk but we felt it was worth checking to put our minds at ease. I would recommend it

No! No matter what the results are for us, it wouldn't change a think. The only thing it would do if something came back wrong is cause me to worry! And then I wouldn't enjoy my pregnancy !  No thank you!
