Should new parents have to meet the same requirements as parents who are adopting?

I'm in university to become a RN! I was talking to a friend who works in labour and delivery and she was telling me a man got mad that the doctor wasn't white and was just an all around asshole and knew nothing about proper childcare which got me thinking about this subject?

Are you asking if they should be approved prior to having children? Or that if they are unfit, the child should be taken from their custody? The first one is not feasible, nor ethical. The second already happens (or at least is supposed to) if there is a report filed and the parents are deemed abusive or negligent. Unfortunately, being a racist asshole is usually not enough for CPS to take the children out of their custody.

Do you know how many people wouldn't be able to leave the hospital? You can't stop people who are unfit to be parents stop having children. That's what CPS is for 🤷🏼‍♀️
Side note,
I was in the nicu with my daughter and stayed w her 14+hours a day for almost a month. I saw a lot of "unfit" moms come and go. I did notice staff pay more attention and get social work involved with those moms and watch out more for the child. I was upsetting to me watching babies fight for their life and their parents would swing by for 5 min a day and leave. Nurses and staff pick up on this and tend to try to educate more. Also, I know some hospitals before discharge give a quick parenting class. I mean that doesn't help if your an asshole who can't be changed but it might help.
