When to schedule the Doctor?

I'm 4 weeks 5 days today. When are you supposed to go to the doctor? This is my 2nd child. With my first I went to the doctor as soon as I found out (around 5 weeks) and I was sent home because it was too early to do anything. Everything online is either saying as soon as you find out or 10-12 weeks.
