I kept mine rear facing until they reached the weight requirements of the carseat around 2.5. I thought it was silly until I watched a YouTube video of a simulated crash rear facing and then the same crash forward facing. Because their heads are so big in proportion to their neck and bodies, their head really jerks forward more than an adult and can cause internal decapitation. So after that I became a rear facing nerd lol

I rear faced my child until he was 3 1/2 and the only reason I put him forward facing is because I couldn't find a car seat that wasn't $400 that could rear face a child his weight and height . My 7 year old is still in a high back booster and will be until he is at least 10 . My 4 almost 5 year old is still in a five point harness
