so i've had sex before twice but today it hurt more than it ever has before and i'm bleeding a bit so have evidently broken my hymen, which is equivalent to losing your virginity. but i'm a bit confused as i've already had sex? anyone have advice??

I don't personally think the hymen has anything to do with losing your virginity. I think you're no longer a virgin once you start voluntarily involving yourself in sexual activity. Everyone has a different definition of virginity, though. But you can actually have sex without your hymen tearing at all. And furthermore, you can bleed and experience discomfort without having torn your hymen. If it were, girls would not be able to menstruate before they lose their virginity because there would be no outlet for menstrual blood.

I read an article that said that its your decision and opinion wether or not you've lost it. And I couldn't agree more. I think it calms you down and it lets you know its your choice and just because the first time was bad or good doesn't characterize your sex life. So I think it's up to you whether or not you lost it. It's just what you believe and feel.

Sometimes it still happens like the bleeding because it may still be tight. It can also happen if you haven't had sex in a long time and when you start having sex again, you might bleed again.
