Insuring an unborn baby in Florida
Ok I'm going to try to explain my question as simply as I can but I am so confused right now! FTM btw
I have insurance through my job, my husband does not. I will be leaving my position and losing insurance basically when I go into labor. I will not be able to afford cobra. My husband will also be taking a substantial pay cut the same month the baby is born (October) as he will be changing careers for better long term opportunities.
So how do I go about applying for my child who is not yet born? I know in Florida I can apply for kidcare Medicaid and pay based on my income, but I know my income now is much greater than it will be in October, so should I wait til baby is born to apply? But I also know babies need to a pediatrician pretty quickly after birth so how do I ensure that my child is able to get care if the application process itself can take 6wks. I'm at a loss, anyone have any guidance?
