Was childbirth/ motherhood how you expected it to be?

I'm just curious because I have a lot of friends with babies/kids now and I want a kid but not for a while. I guess I just wanna know what you thought it would be like going into motherhood and how it might be different after you become a mother. Feel free to share photos and stories!

I meant to hit "pretty much as expected". The only thing I wasn't expecting, or didn't know how it would feel, is just how much love you feel when you're holding your little human. I loved him before he was born, his little kicks and hiccups in the womb, warmed my heart. I talked and sang to him. Once he came out, and I heard him cry for the first time, my world stopped. If you ever wondered what it would feel like to have a piece of your heart outside of you, have a baby. I knew pregnancy would be easy, childbirth would be hard, and after there would be sleepless nights, sore nipples, and a different body... but honestly my little guy is worth every single minute. He is 5w2d old and the absolute light of our lives.

Well, I'm a young (19) mother. Everyone told me motherhood would be absolutely crazy and a mess. That's what I expected, but that's not really what I'm experiencing. I have a very calm and happy baby. She slept through the night very early on and latched to my breasts right away. It's been a bit easy for me. There are some hectic moments, or course. But generally, it's going a lot better than I thought it would. I expected to be a lot more frazzled day to day. I'll regret saying all of this once she starts walking and I have to chase her all around 😂 also when I have two and not just one! But I'm excited for those moments.

I thought it would be hell.  However, I had an easy pregnancy, and easy labor and an easy baby.  She has ruined me for any future children lol

My delivery and recovery were nothing like what I expected, even my worse case senarios couldn't have predicted it. I labored for 2 days and pushed for 3 1/2 hours and had a 9 lb 7 oz baby. It was excruciatingly painful and traumatizing. I had tearing, stitches, and healing was awful and now 4 months later, sex is painful and I didn't heal right.  I needed to see a specialist and now have to have surgery to repair a muscle torn during my delivery so basically I get to experience recovery all over again but hopefully it'll work and I can finally have sex with my husband again!  I also have PP depression and anxiety.  On the positive side, my pregnancy was easy and my daughter is amazing. She's easy going, great at nursing, and taking care of her really isn't that bad, I'm the one struggling.  😕

It's been super rough on me both times... with my first I was young and had NO idea how much it changes your life that and I just moved far from family and knew no one, had horrible bf problems too and she was a horrible sleeper it took me a year to be happy....then when my second came (4 years later) he was a very fussy newborn and an even worse sleeper (he's 6 months now, and gotten easier) but it was very rough for me for a while getting used to two, and him being so fussy. If I ever have a third I'll pray for an amazing baby 😂

Never expected it to be as insanely hard as it is. I know babies cry and are helpless but nothing prepared me for how helpless I would feel when my girl is melting down and nothing I do consoles her. Breaks my heart. I honestly never knew i could instantly love something so much too. Wouldn't trade her for the world!!

labor was not what I expected.. I was planning a natural drug free birth, kept fit and did every exercise I could to make sure I had a quick easy labor. 10 days overdue, 60 hour labor and had every drug they would give me + epidural  😂 motherhood on the other hand has been so easy for me. My daughter is just my best little friend and I couldn't imagine my life without her! Seeing my partner become such an amazing dad to our daughter has given me a whole new meaning of love and I feel so lucky to have a perfect little family 🤗

It was different to me. Natural labor wasn't at all as scary as everyone made it seem and I enjoyed it. Motherhood was a lot harder than I expected after we added each child. My grandmother made it look so easy raising us. I don't know how she does all she does.
