Over doing it?

Question

I have been sterilizing my pump parts after every use, every 2 hrs. Germs freak me out and I don't want LO to get sick from any bacteria. But I'm also worried it's going to break down my parts faster. Am I over doing it, would thoroughly rinsing them out every now and then be acceptable?

The only reason you'd need to sterilize after every use is if your baby is sick, in the hospital or was a preemie and you were advised to do so by your Dr. 
I work full time and sterilizing after every pump just wouldn't be practical, I sterilize everything once a week and then use the Medela wipes in between pumping, put my pump bag (the Sarah Wells pump parts bag is great) in my mini fridge at work between sessions - as advised by my lactation consultant and then wash everything in hot water when I get home. My baby hasn't ever been sick. 
I don't think there's harm in sterilizing that frequently - you'll have to replace some pump pieces every few months regardless (like membranes) but I wouldn't want to do that from a time perspective if it wasn't essential.

yeah, if say you're overdoing it.  I sterilize once a week, and just clean after every use.  baby is 6 mo old, never been sick.   I definitely wouldn't sterilize more than once a day.  but that's just my opinion.  good luck, do what you think is right for you and your LO

Some bacteria is good for baby to be exposed to. It will build his/her immune system. If we over antitoxin things they will never build a good one and will end up actually being sick more often. 
Sanitizing 1 per day and cleaning in warm water and soap after each   what's recommended on the pump I have.

I sterilize my pump parts every time and along with bottles. It's so time consuming but I like knowing my parts are nice and clean
