Metformin. Good? Bad?

Question

I am just curious as to what your experiences have been with Metformin to help with PCOS. Pregnant easily after? Still having difficulty? Anything really.
I was just recently diagnosed with PCOS and my doctor recommended it. I haven't started taking it yet, I'm still trying to decide if I want to start it right away.

I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and I have been on Metformin for quite a while now I was put on it for fertility reasons by my gynecologist and my fertility specialist kept me on it because it was doing the job for giving my hormones I did have to go from for pills to 3 because it was giving me really bad anxiety and I started taking it at 7 p.m. instead of in the morning and I lost a bunch of weight in September and I got pregnant at the end of September and continue to lose weight until I was two months away from having the baby then I pretty much maintained my weight and I am still on it until after I'm done breastfeeding because it helps with your milk supply

If it's the extended release you will be good , no extreme side effects. Give it a try!

I was on it for 5 weeks and conceived, but unfortunately ended in MC ( I was only taking 1000mg) now I'm taking 2000mg and in my 2ww. Before I got on it we tried for 6 months and 7th month I was pregnant. The end result outweighed the side effects. I find that when I eat healthy and clean I have less side effects.

I absolutely hated being on metformin. It made me have really bad indigestion. I took the natural route and my cycle has starting like it should without metformin.

ive been on 500mg daily  for a little over 5 weeks. . . my side effects werent anything major  but they did upset my stomach in the beginning but i actually ovulated for the first time a week ago in almost a year... so fingers crossed

Been taking it for several months, I've had a cycle every month but gave me diarrhea in the beginning and I'm on a very low dose

I've been taking metformin for 3 months. No side effects whatsoever but no pregnancy either. Is it pointless to take metformin if you don't have to lose weight? My fertility specialist says it might help but my reproductive endocrinologist said it's pointless since I'm not overweight.....thoughts?

Metformin made me so sick. Never hungry and a mix of strong nausea and diarrhea. Had to leave work early a few times because pepto wasn't even helping. We didn't want to BD because I felt so terrible.

I've been on 2 pills a day. First month I ovulated but not a good egg... 2nd month irregular cycle without ovulation. One more month to move on to the next thing. My sister got pregnant on her 2nd cycle with metformin. Thy make me feel like crap but I wanted to try it before going with slightly more "risky" medications. Can't tolerate any higher dose. So if you can wait a few months I'd say its worth trying (although these past few have been hard to get big negatives)
