LGBTQ+

Mady

Hi, I have a few questions about the general LGBTQ+ community. None of my questions are meant to be rude or homophobic/transphobic, they're just questions because I want to be thoroughly educated on this subject.

1. I have a friend that says she's gender neutral or something along those lines and I don't understand the lack of gender. To me, gender and sex have always seemed synonymous (I know people disagree with that so please also explain why they're not) and I don't understand not having a gender. I get the whole trans thing but it seems like gender neutral people are calling themselves that because they don't wanna be associated with their gender's stereotype, where in my opinion, we should just work on eliminating those stereotypes. So what exactly does gender neutral mean? Anything that is incorrect that I wrote, please feel free to correct me. Please don't feel attacked. That's not my goal in this post.

2. So with the gender fluid thing, I've seen things about how only parts of your body can be one gender and the rest can be another, is that true? And if you could just explain to me what causes a person to label themselves as gender fluid and how one can be different genders on different days. (That sounded a little like "people choose to be that way" and I know that's not true. I'm asking more for the criteria of being considered or considering oneself gender fluid).

3. The trans bathroom issue, so I understand the social aspect of using the bathroom of the gender you associate yourself with, but to me, bathrooms seem more importantly physically functional for the genitalia. I don't see anything wrong with someone that has gone through the whole transformation (including physical). But like if your genitals are female and you identify as a male, you're gonna have to use a stall in the men's room anyway (unless that's untrue) or if your genitals are male and you identify as female, I mean I guess a guy can pee sitting down. It just seems more physically functional to use the one for your genitals gender. Please tell me where I'm wrong in there, I'm sure there's a lot.

4. So what are all the categories in LGBTQ+ and definitions? I know the LGBT, if someone could define the Q for me, and then everything included in the +. I know asexual, a-romantic, somewhat gender fluid, but what else is there?

I'm really not phobic of anyone or how they identify, if I come off that way, it's because I'm not well informed. Thank you to everyone that answers my questions respectfully and thoroughly. Once again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone, that was not my intention.
