So annoyed

For the last few months my period has been coming 5 days early but this month I completely forgot it has been and I am on holiday and my period has decided to make an entrance. What annoys me with this is I go swimming every night but I hate tampons.

Do any of you guys have advice for using them?

Update: I've got one in now going swimming a little later wasn't as bad as I expected actually.
