Why is it that in the US people consider those of certain backgrounds as foreigners?
So I was born in the US in Florida and my mother was born in New York and yet just because I'm Hispanic I'm seen as a foreigner. Which makes zero sense because how can someone be foreign in their own country. And I've actually been called one to my face by my high school principal who asked me "Where I was really from" after I told him I was born in Florida. I just don't get it. Anyone care to talk about why it is that people in the US do this? Or maybe if you live outside the US does this also occur in your country?
