Am I too narrow-minded and judgmental?
Got into a heated argument on fb (not my style). The basic premise of their post was that we should be more forgiving of pedophiles- and many of them have redeeming qualities.
I replied (background on me: I was raped by stepgrandpa from age 3-6; molested by aunt from 4-6; raped at ages 18 and 27):"once someone has been proven to be a pedophile, rapist, child/elder abuser, or animal abuser - they're dead to me and I feel they should be locked away and the key thrown away. (Side note: I have ptsd and a therapy dog literally saved my life - hence my stance on animal abuse -
Plus I love animals). Nothing they can do can redeem them - there has to be something very wrong with them to commit such acts - so wrong that it cannot be corrected - and they will likely repeat the offense."
I realize that including animals in my statement may weaken it in someone's eyes.
To also clarify: the person needs to have been proven to have committed these acts - everyone deserves due process.
