Sleeping on an air mattress...safe or not?

Question

My husband and I are going camping with my family next weekend, and we always bring an air mattress. I'll be almost 18 weeks by then. We had some friends that said sleeping on an air mattress is not good while pregnant because of chemicals harmful to the baby. Is there truth to this? Does it matter if the mattress is new or not? Ours isn't new and works fine, but we don't have the box any more so I can't look to see if there's any warnings on it.
I'm definitely not sleeping on the ground, so any thoughts would be very reassuring and helpful. Thanks!

all mattresses have off gassing. honestly though, people are way too worried about everything these days. depending on who you ask you can't wear certain deodorants, you can't eat certain things, you can't dye your hair or do you nails, you can't shave, you can't have a cat, you can't, you can't, you can't.
I think you're just fine sleeping on an air mattress and that over stressing about every little thing is worse for the baby than the possibility of maybe inhaling some off gassing from a year old mattress. but, if you think you'll worry more about it by doing it, then don't. again, do what stresses you the least.

I'm 38+2 and I've been sleeping on an air mattress for almost three weeks til I'm able to get a bed for my bedroom it's just hard for me to keep gettin up n down but I would rather be in that then I would the floor and my baby is fine..
