What would you do?

Yesterday at work, one of my coworkers made a joke that I found out of line. Since I work with children and can't reveal their names due to HIPAA, Ill just use M (11 year old male with autism), F (9 year old female with Down's syndrome) and C for my coworker. 
So basically, M has a crush on F, but doesn't know how to show it appropriately. They haven't seen each other in awhile, and yesterday my coworker made a joke about him liking her. Basically C said "M should really widen his horizons some, or he's gonna end up with some messed up kids. He's much more higher functioning than F, it would be a shame if he made babies with her". I immediately told her that was extremely inappropriate, and if she made a "joke" like that again, i would be informing a supervisor. What would you have done? Do you think it's appropriate to try to "match" higher functioning people with disabilities with other high-functioning people?

I would report that coworker asap. Neurodivergent people themselves should be the only ones who get to decide who they want to be involved with romantically.

I would have done what you did, and matching kids while talking about "baby making" is creepy regardless of any other factors.

Honestly at first reading the very beginning when you mentioned being at work finding a joke a co-worker told that you felt was inappropriate, I was thinking if I was you I would def have not said anything just to avoid conflict.. I hate conflict especially with ppl I have to work with every day! But as I kept reading my answer changed so drastically!! I mean if you are working with children all day, and your co worker is making fun of students??? Then that is SO wrong! I would have done the same thing! You totally did the right thing, that is so messed up, parents send their kids to school expecting their teachers and other adults working with their students to protect them from bullying, yet the adult in the situation was actually being the bully! Good for you, you handled the situation perfectly in my opinion:.

I'm a teacher and I work with special education children too. That is SO inappropriate. I would report the coworker immediately and make sure there were consequences. I have angry tears rn for the poor children who have to be around your coworker.
