Sperm!

My SO takes pain pills on a regular basis and has to also get injection in his back. He had an awful accident a few years back but anywyas... Does this effect us trying to get pregnant? We stopped having protected sex July 1st to be exact. I didn't expect to get pregnant fast and I had been on bc for the past 10 years and just completely stopped bc in March. Opinions please! How long should I expect it to take? I am 26 and he is 29 will be 30 this year.
