Getting IUD replaced...as bad as first time?

I'm coming up on 5 years with my Mirena, so I will need to get it removed soon. When I got it put in I took like 4 Advil beforehand and it was still the most horrific pain of my life--I actually cried out and almost passed out. Not to mention I felt super traumatized and violated from having my cervix dilated. I had debilitating cramps (more like contractions) for at least a month afterwards. With that being said, I feel the IUD is the best form of birth control aside from making my husband get a vasectomy so I feel I should get a new one. But I really don't think I can go through the same level of pain and trauma of having it reinserted. I know everyone's experience is different, and some people just experience period-type cramps (NOT the case for me), but does anyone have experience getting an IUD removed and replaced? Is it any better since your cervix is used to having something there? I am also tracking my period so that I can hopefully get it placed when my cervix is more open... any insights or experiences are welcome. I am super nervous to have to deal with this again.
