Baby shower?

Name something people didn't get you at your baby shower you needed the most. Everyone is saying wait until the baby shower to start buying things but if I'm going to need something people won't get me or a lot of it I'd like to start preparing now !

It definitely depends on each shower lol My crib, car seat, bases, convertible car seat, stroller, glider, and mattresses were all bought by our parents before the shower even happened. We got a lot of our smaller stuff and then the bathtub, carrier, boppy, and other things. We bought shelving and redid the nursery closet, I am cloth diapering so we also used shower money and gift cards to get a diaper pail, some more diapers, our monitors, and some of the match-y things I wanted. I had two crib sheets bought from our registry that would have sufficed but I wanted a matching crib set with a mobile and things.

Most of the things I got at my shower were clothes and other things. Almost all of it were things not on my registry. I had researched items for what is best for baby, and people got me other items. So registries are tricky.

I got almost everything from my registry and what I didn't get, I got gift cards and purchased the stuff myself. We didn't get the car seat for after baby grows out of carrier, but it was over $300 and we don't need it right away.

A mattress. But I expected that because it was a pricier item haha. I had two baby showers, at one they basically didn't get anything off the registry. At the other they pretty much only purchased things off the registry. Totally depends on the type of friends/family you have.

Maybe you'll do better than me but seriously hardly anybody bought anything off my registry.  I do appreciate the gifts I got but they were mostly clothes and blankets, which I didn't need.  So now I'm stuck with a huge list of necessities like diaper cream, breastfeeding accessories (nipple cream, pads, etc.), mattress pads, crib sheets, changing pad covers, baby shampoo/lotion.  I'm super overwhelmed and stressed because it seems like it's going to be like hundreds and hundreds of dollars to buy all the stuff I still need.
