Is Michael too boring?

I'm having THE hardest time with boy's names. Way back when before we even had our first baby (a girl), the boy's name we picked out was Michael Alan. We picked it because Michael is my hubby's middle name and Alan is my dad's, and it flows together nicely I think. Last initial is C, so his initials would be Mac, which could be a cute nickname. Anyway! My only hesitation now is that Michael as a standalone name seem so plain, boring, and common, but I know it's also a classic...
