Almsgiving
We are not a cash society anymore. Most people my age or younger only have plastic. It's the age of convenience; cash and credit replaced mineral (copper, silver, gold), plastic has replaced cash, and soon it will be microchips, I am sure.
But for those who do not live in this convenient culture- the homeless, the food/housing insecure- cash is a rare and valuable commodity. Even a single dollar can be the difference between a night of stomach pains or a night of rest. I urge you all to keep some cash on you at all times. Even if it's just a single dollar, for the express purpose of giving it away.
You can do more of course. You can keep an emergency kit or backpack of essentials in the back of your car that you replace as soon as it's given away. But if you can't, at least keep a dollar. Those gift cards you will never use? Someone less fortunate can surely use them.
So many are in need when we have been given excess. Please remember them.
