Metformin Am or PM?

Hi everyone! 
For those of you on metformin-do you take it in the morning or at night? Is either one more effective? I've been taking it at night but wondering if it would be more useful during the day. Just wondering what others do, thanks!

I take one in the morning with another pill (glyxambi) and 2 at night. I'm supposed to take 2 and 2 but I drop too low during the day if I take both in the am

I'm on 2,000 mg and my prescription doesn't say to take it at any specific time. I asked the pharmacist if I could take it all at once and he said yes but never said morning or night. Maybe I'll call the doctor and ask them on Monday. Thanks everyone!

My prescription says take one pill twice a day so I take one during breakfast and dinner.
