Cribs?

Question

I'm 21 weeks and I'm wanting to start the nursery I just don't what is really necessary and what will actually get used. Everyone has different opinions on cribs, some tell me that their babies never used them or some say they did. I'm debating on whether I should get one or not?

We have a convertible crib that'll be a twin bed in the end

I'm using a pack n play since it was 100 dollars and works for a bassinet (the mattress stays halfway up the bed until lowered) and later a crib and playpen. This Graco one even has a detachable changing station that flips over to be a napper. I'll use that for the first few months. We were short on space, but I feel good about it. I have a friend who's used that with all four of her babies!

My three yr old is still in his crib-- he loves it. I can't imagine skipping the crib.

We got a convertible crib for about $130 at Walmart. My daughter started sleeping in her crib around 11 months and when she started potty training a little over age 2 we converted it to the toddler bed (no kit needed for that). She's now 3 1/2 and we just switched her to a twin bed today (not the convertible, but the bed I had growing up) because baby #2 is due in November and we want to use the crib for him (and wanted my daughter to get used to a different bed so she didn't get jealous of baby using "her bed"). I'd say we've already gotten our money's worth not even counting using it for baby #2.

I've gotten a crib that goes all the way to a full bed so if the baby don't use it as a crib there is plenty of uses for it !

we have a crib. if you plan on co sleeping then you may not use it as much (we don't co sleep at all). the 3 in 1 cribs are nice goes from crib to day bed to twin bed.

We have 3 kids ages 5 and under. We got a convertible crib our first son and honestly it was a mistake. Our baby teethed on it and most friends of ours had this same issue, none of us ended up actually using the convertible feature, by the time you purchase the conversation kit you don't really save much.  Next 2 kids we bought an inexpensive regular crib. I recommend fisher price on Walmart online, it's great quality for the price. Our 3 year old still uses his fisher price crib and it actually looks better than my oldest son's expensive convertible crib that we ended up just throwing out. But yes I definitely think a crib is useful especially once they start crawling.
