Without gender roles is there gender?

Question

Just wondering something. Not trying to be offensive if I am. Just trying to understand something. Do transgender people pile expressing their gender? If so, don't they do this by using gender roles and stereotypes? Isn't that kind of contradicting and it's kind of like feminism and transgender rights are going against one another I think.

I'm a trans guy, and I'm not masculine and don't conform to gender roles. Gender isn't about stereotypes and gender roles and trans people don't base their identities on those. Without gender roles, gender may not exist 🤷‍♂️ we can't really know until it happens, but sure, gender is a concept, it never really existed in the first place, so it could most definitely end up that way. For now though, even if trans people don't conform to gender roles many of us assign ourselves a gender to fit into the gendered society around us, and to validate our place in it. Some trans people don't have a gender though, and that's great too, I think it's cool that they don't let a man made concept define them 👌

I don't entirely understand what you're asking, but I'm a trans guy and I'm not terribly into stereotypically masculine things. I think it's true that some trans people feel the need to perform their gender and fit gender stereotypes, but it's becoming less common as we're finding more acceptance.

In my opinion, gender roles and feminism don't contradict each other. Intersectional feminism is for trans rights and other people's rights as well. Not just white cis women, in other words. It studies how all of the roles we play have an impact on us. 
To answer your question, yes I think so. Gender doesn't have to be a binary-aka man or woman and that's it.
Like someone else said, you might be trans and be nonbinary or not even have a gender. I think as society progresses, we are learning more about how there are more than just two genders, and also that gender can be fluid.
