my baby hates tummy time?

unless my newborn is on my chest or his dads chest ge just screams when placed on his tummy on his play mat. When hes on our chests he is lifting his head and and body like he should be on the floor just without the screaming. is this okay? should we just let him scream on the floor for tummy time or continue with our chests?

No do not let your baby scream. Tummy time on your chest is tummy time. You can also put baby in a carrier as well with their head supported which helps develop the muscles needed.

My baby hates to my time too.  I'm a ftm and struggled to see her cry at all... I would let her do tummy time until she got fussy.  As time went on it got longer and longer. We did other things to build those muscles like having her sleep on my chest during the day. Carrying her upright, facing out leaning back against my chest.  Once she hit 4 months (only a week ago) she learned to roll from back to tummy and now loves it!

This is what we do! She still hates it but she will at least put up with it for a few mins while on our chest!

Tummy time on your chest is fine :) you can do it that way until baby is more comfortable doing it on their mat! Try to "offer" the mat first, but if its upsetting baby its better to switch and do it on your chest
