Upset over Baby's Gender

Laura

I know babies are a blessing and I feel ungrateful saying all of this....I have a 3.5 year old daughter. I did the Sneak Peek Test and it said I'm having a boy, which the tests have been wrong before. I thought this would help me bond earlier on with my baby. Instead I am so upset that it's a boy, I really wanted my daughter to have a sister. I just don't know how to be a "boy mom" all I know is having my daughter. I'm nervous. My ultrasound is in three weeks I will wait until then to confirm the blood test.

If it is a boy, you'll adjust fast to being a boy Mom! I worried about the same thing before my son was born, now I'm expecting a little girl and I'm kind of excited to see how different things will be with a girl.

I have a 16 month old boy. I cannot tell you how amazing it is having my little man. He's so awesome! And you know that mother/son bond people talk about? I know it's crazy but even at this age, I already feel it. I know exactly what they're talking about and it's an amazing bond! I'll be having his baby sister in two weeks. Sure girl clothes were adorable to buy and headbands and all that jazz. And I'm excited to have a mother/daughter bond. But I'm also super excited for my son and daughter to be close and best buds. I know you said you want her to have a sister but your daughter can have just as special of a bond with her brother as she could a sister. You just have to encourage that relationship. Once you see your son, I'm sure all these feelings you have will go out the window. Oh, and you'll see that it's fun dressing a boy up with style, too. 😎

Just remember, before you had her, you weren't a mom at all. You had no idea how to be a girl mom and if you had a boy first, you would've become a pro boy mom by now. You're gonna be fine. It all comes naturally. :)

I hope all of my worries just fade away once we start to prepare and buy boy things. I'm so unsure of being a boy mom, since I was good at being a girl mom. my daughter will be 4.5 when baby #2 is born, she is a little mother hen, I hope she takes to him

It's ok to be upset eventually you'll be fine. This is my 4th child (currently 21 weeks) I wanted a boy since I had my first child 9 years ago! Since then I've had 3 daughters lol This is my last child so of course I wanted a boy so very badly. My doc had me do the blood test for genetic defects and also reveled the gender well this will be my 4th GIRL and so far she's perfectly healthy! thought I'd be so upset but as soon as they said so far she had no genetic defects I was over the moon happy. Even now I still think maybe sometimes find myself thinking about the boy I've always wanted I'm so happy all my girls are healthy and beautiful ❤ being a mom is pretty much all the same wether you have boys or girls or both. It may take time but you'll love him the same way you love your daughter.

Thank you!! It's reassuring to hear other moms going through the same thing I am. I feel so ungrateful and crazy for being this way.

I'm nervous to find out what I'm having because I am a boy mom and only know how to do that, plus I've never been a little girl kinda person, I just can't handle the drama a girl brings I guess. I grew up with 4 girls and it was annoying to say the least. Maybe it's wrong but if not don't be too upset, boys are awesome and are just so chill and go with the flow(:

Thank you!! I think as I get further along and start feeling kicks, and have the ultrasound to confirm our results I will feel more at ease and get used to the idea of having a son.

Don't feel bad, your free to feel how ever you want. But I promise you, having a boy of your own will change your perspective completely. I wish the best for you guys!! I also understand the pressure of having a baby that my husbands family wants. They're all boys and they want me to have a girl but I think I'd be feeling the same way you do.. good luck mama I hope everything turns out well!💚

I hope the test is wrong lol, I would love to reuse all of my baby girls clothes. I will be relieved if it is a boy that I won't have another head of hair to do in the mornings.

I'm a boy mom about to have a little girl. I felt the same way at first, but now I'm having a blast decorating her nursery and buying clothes. Just try to embrace it. You're going to get a taste of both worlds. I love having a little boy.

I enjoyed preparing for my daughter SO much! The clothes and accessories for girls are so much cuter than boys. It will be a nice change of pace to have a low maintenance little boy to dress and not have to do his hair!

Being an older sister to a younger brother, I can vouch for the fact that having a brother is awesome. They'll be great friends and introduce each other to different things!

Well if it makes you feel better, you're more likely to get an incorrect boy result with Sneak Peek than an incorrect girl result 🤷🏼‍♀️ Good luck! ❤️❤️

I did sneak peek at 10 weeks and it said boy and has been correct.

That's what I was thinking, but I was so careful I don't see how I could have messed up the test :(

When I had my DS I had been so so desperate for a girl, I really didn’t want a boy. I had a c section and didn’t know what we were expecting, and when my husband told me it was a boy I felt so disappointed and scared. However!!!!!!Boys (in general!) are the most affectionate, loving little things, I’m pregnant again with number 2 (only 8 weeks ish) and would actually love another boy (or girl, but the shocking thing is I would be made up with a boy!!!!)Boys are so damn loving, you will find out when he arrives and you will never look back!!!!!!!! 💙💙💙
