Anybody else having trouble figuring out contractions?

Seriously, like my lower back will ache and let up, or I'll have like a period like cramp that'll last a minute or two. I'm due the 21st, but I'm supposed to call my doctor if I have contractions 12-10 minutes apart or less and I'm trying to focus on this. Anybody got tips? Maybe start timing when I notice the pain and just focus till it stops?

I know NOTHING about contractions. My body is reacting so differently with this pregnancy than my first. With my first, I didn't know I was even pregnant. Had zero symptoms. Found out during a routine doctor's appointment at 5 months. Felt no signs of contractions when I went into labor. Was immediately admitted during one of my 37th week prenatal exam. However, this time around knew immediately that I was pregnant. Had every symptom possible. I'm now 38 weeks and feeling some kind of miserable. My pelvic literally feels broken in half. I'm having TONS of pressure. Lost my mucus plug.  Had the bloody show. Been having intense back pain and pressure along with period like cramps.. but it's nothing that I can even time? I heard you should be able to time from start to start, but I don't seem to catch it. I'm beginning to feel defeated. 😒 I should know this stuff or how to handle it better.. But I don't.

I know! I second guess every cramp. It's very confusing. I never feel tightness. If you do think you might be having them, baby center app has a contraction timer tool.

I keep getting told that I will know when it is time, I have also been told that I will know when I am having a true contraction. So I am just as lost as you! Have was told my an ob doc that you will be able to tell the difference between a contraction and a kick, I can sometimes tell and other times I can't!! It's upsetting!!

I thought I knew what Braxton Hicks was until I read a completely different description somewhere else. All I know is I have cramps, back pain, and tightening so I guess I have all of them. But no this is consistent. Some have said "you'll know" and my MIL who is an L&D; nurse for 30 yrs said plenty of people have no clue they are in labor. Just a hoping my water breaks so I won't have to guess!
