Where do you look for a church?

Just curious. I help manage my church's page on Facebook and am trying to reach more people.

When my fiancé and I were looking for a church we both agreed on we first googled. We then went to Facebook to see what was going on. We then made a list of the churches we wanted to attend a service. On church number 2 we knew it was the one. We both loved it, it had everything we were looking for, and we defiantly felt welcomed there.

I'm not Christian, but Muslim and have been looking for mosques lately so I suppose it's the same thought process really. I Google initially, go to their websites and look around, and then follow through from those links to Facebook to see what activities they post about. That generally gives a good flavour.

Can't say I've ever searched for a church, not actively. When I was a child and my family moved from Houston to Dallas (this was in 1996, by the way, lol) they searched for a place by asking friends at work who they knew were Christian. I visited churches in college on word of mouth, people in class, people in the university square, etc. Our current church we found just driving around our nee town. We are Orthodox now, though, so we wouldn't have attended a non-Orthodox church and were just happy there was one nearby when we moved. If we hand come across it by driving around, we would have done a google search for the nearest one.

Thank you all for your feedback. I'm trying to eliminate our website to save money and just have our Facebook page, which is public, updated with info, events, etc.
