How do you know your babies weight?

I see a lot of comments saying my baby is 8lbs already or my baby is really small. How do you know? My doctor only measures my belly at 37 weeks. I have no plan for another ultrasound

My doctor only measures my belly, too. I asked him at 34wks how big the baby was, when he did a quick ultrasound to show my husband and firstborn, and his response was: "I don't know. Maybe 4lbs?" Lol he doesn't entertain guessing baby's weight because sometimes it can stress the mom out.

My doctor just felt around on my abdomen and probably from measuring my belly, I'll give him props if he's accurate but only birth will tell at this point.

My midwife has been in practice for a very long time and can gauge the baby's size with her hands. Not an exact science but at my last ultrasound (not with her) the baby measured 5 lbs 14 ounces.. at my appt with her two days later she "measured" me by hand estimating 6 lbs without knowing the measurement from the ultrasound. She's awesome!

I have GD so I had to have a growth scan with a weight estimation. Im being induced this Sunday expecting her to be between 7-8lbs

I think most people know from an ultrasound. My doctor technically only does one at 20 weeks, but if there's any reason to check on the baby she will. I got one done at 37 weeks because of a possible issue.
