I wanna be a...what?!

Question

I'm in college right now and I'm about to start my second year in the Fall, but I have no clue what I want to study or do with my life. Right now I'm studying English/Creative Writing because I use to love that, but now it's not as exciting and fun as when I was younger...I have no clue what to study and I need to get on it because I need to catch up with all those classes for that major...I was thinking of Global Studies for Peace Corps or something like that, but I don't know. I like foreign affairs, different cultures, and helping people, but that's such a 360. Being in the Peace Corps is a full time thing..I also love animals but not the medical aspects so maybe something in that direction...?
I'm sorry this was so long, but any advice? Please?

This sounds like I wrote it. I started college right after high school, but only because I was denied entrance to the military. I was in nursing but hated it so I switched to English/creative writing because I LOVED to write. But as you said, I didn't love it as much as I did as a kid. So I actually ended up dropping out of school for a year to find out what I wanted. I love animals so much, and everyone suggest vet but I didn't want to do that. Now I'm getting my PhD in Zoology. I love it so much, and I honestly can't imagine being anything else.

See which other majors at your college will have the easiest transferability when it comes to credits. I would talk to the head of the department of creative writing and then i would go to career planning services. Maybe look up which programs you could be eligible for on the peace corps website before you make the transition of major. You could also check out a book at the library on possible career paths or take a career assessment test. Just go on a job website portal and just click around. Maybe see what piques your interest :)

If you're unsure, choose a broader major. Global studies would be great because it's a newer major and there will be less competition for jobs. You don't have to stick to the same career for the rest of your life. And your major might not even be related to your career in the future anyway. Study what you find interesting.

Have you maybe considered anthropology? Check out all the majors your school offers and look into the ones that interest you. Take an intro class for the ones you might be willing to go all in for, talk to a counselor or advisor in that major. Talk to your classmates or friends about their major and see what it's like to get other ideas. I declared late too, and now I'm doing five years. If you have to take a class you don't like for the major you love just take the class and get it over with for your dream job! I started with a biology path since I was in health/medical focused high school classes but I didn't wanna be a doctor, I wasn't so much into physics and math that I wanted to be a gears and buildings engineer, but then I found out about bioengineering! Knowing everything your school offers is a big help

Just a suggestion but what about screenwriting? Does your university offer screenwriting classes in the film dept? The entertainment industry is competitive but why not give being a screenwriter a shot if you love creative writing/ English? 
To be honest, being creative will never be as fun as when we're kids. When we're young, it's easy to be creative because we're not too critical of ourselves. Now that we're adults, we're more prone to being a jerk to ourselves by self critique and getting distracted.
Don't let go of being creative. Find another ways to do it even if you don't become a writer full time. Whatever you become, continue writing -- short stories, poems, whatever. Because writing helps you cultivate that voice inside you.
