Is birth control safe?

Question

A lot of girls have told me to get on birth control but then a lot of them haven't. So far I have heard no good thing about birth control except for the part of having safer sex. I don't want to get on it because I seen what it has done to other women's body. What's your opinion on this?

It increases your appetite but doesn't directly cause weight gain so as long as you're watching what you're eating you won't gain any noticeable weight. I loved being on the pill. It totally cleared up my acne and I could decide when I wanted to have my period. There were no negatives for me at all.

I didn't gain any weight on BC. Women will tell you horror stories all day but I'm skeptical about weight gain in many cases. Sometimes you're just in an age where you naturally gain it (16-21) and others people give in to hormonal cravings. Just watch what you eat and keep exercising. I lost a couple pounds when I first started from that alone!

I loved being on the pill it cleared my acne. I did gain about 30 pounds but I think that had more to do with my bad eating habits then the bc. It is a bit harder to lose weight when on the pill which is why I got off. If you can control you're eating (which I'm really bad at) then weight gain shouldn't be more than 2-4 lbs according to my doc.

If you worry a lot about your weight and size, DO NOT GET IT. Lol. I've been a steady 120 pounds for several years! Same diet, even to this day. Literally I was 120 before I got on the pill, 3 months ago, and now im weight 150! Literally and I eat 1,000 calories a day and I don't lose a pound. I believe, and from what I've heard from lots of women, birth control will make it harder to lose weight, and make it harder to gain muscle. AND, if you're in sports like me, LOTS AND LOTS of fatigue :( I used to be fast! Now I can't even run a mile this year. My period was 5 days long every 28 days my WHOLE LIFE. But now it's like 6 or 7 every like 20 to 30 days -_-
