Do you have joint banking accounts?

My S/O and I discussed getting joint accounts once we get married but he seems to spend a lot of money on expensive, stupid, unnecessary stuff. So I don't think it's smart, yet. How many of you all have joint accounts?

we each have our own accounts.  then we have a joint acct for all our bills.  all extra $ belongs to the person who made it.  I make less $ so if I need something or want something my husband will buy it for me from his $.

Since all of our money goes towards our bills, food, life together in general etc my husband and I personally just agreed to have a joint account🤷🏻‍♀️ my money is his and his money is mine

All our finances are joint. We dont spend much and save and saving is a lot easier when you save together and are completely transparent with your spending. But of course you two need to be willing

we have joint accounts for savings and household bills, and separate accounts for personal expenses (medical, clothes, eating out, whatever we want). husband gets $1000/month and I get $300/month for personal expenses (husband has more medical expenses and generally chooses to spend more than I do - IE he thinks his $100/wk massages are essential). it works for us - he is a spender and I'm a saver. I choose to invest a lot of my personal money (e g in bitcoins). however most of our 'spare' money goes to reduce our mortgage - that's our main financial goal right now.

we've talked about it.. engaged but not married yet. like your s/o mine tends to spend where hes not supposed to and was actually the one that suggested joint accounts so I can keep him in check and call him out.

we have one but I'm telling you don't do it. we are now talking divorce and all of our stuff is in one place. now if I had anything it will be split. now I'm not saying you will get a divorce, I'm just saying it's OK to have separate accounts

We set up a joint account a couple years before we were even married. We just got married in July. For us it just made things easier. I pay the bills so he would go and get me cash and then I would deposit the money into my account and write the checks. It just got to be too many extra steps. I worked out a budget and I give him money every week for him to use on gas and bridge toll. If he wants spending money he works side jobs. If your guy spends frivolously then see if he would be willing to not use your debit card. Just give him cash so you can keep track.
