Baby Shower Advice?

Question

My boyfriend & I healed each other from addictions before becoming pregnant. He never drank in his life, & with his help I quit drinking alcohol. I helped him quit smoking cigarettes, he smoked for over 10 years. 
My mom is SO excited setting up my baby shower, showing me all these ideas & she wants to give out little bottles of champagne & cigars as party favors.
This makes me uncomfortable, but I don't know if I should say anything because she's doing SO MUCH FOR US!
Is it not a big deal, since some of our guests can enjoy them, & we can pass on them?

Recovering addict here.  If she's not aware, I would make her aware that it's an important part of your life and recovery, that you abstain from incorporating that stuff in your lives anymore. Come up with another suggestion. I can't imagine she would be offended by that. Any person with a heart and a semblance of sympathy would get it.

Is she aware at all of you guys' past with respect to drinking/smoking, or at least aware that you do not drink or smoke? If so, I'm shocked that she would think that's a good idea! Either way, if you explain to her that you're not comfortable with it nicely, I can't imagine her being upset about it. I think you should definitely communicate with her about it.

I think you should come up with another idea to suggest instead of the cigars and champagne. Then you can say "how about this instead?" and can explain all the hard work you've both done and how it's so important to you. Hopefully she'll respect your wishes especially since you helped suggest something instead of just saying "not that" and not helping.

I would maybe mention it to her.. especially if it makes you uncomfortable! You definitely shouldn't feel that way at your own baby shower. My aunt threw me one and at EVERY family event they always have a table of alcohol like 10 different kinds of liquor, whiskey and beer and I knew she was going to do it at my baby shower and sure as shit she did.. Don't get me wrong I don't mind drinking and if people drink but my family likes to go overboard with it and get crazy and obnoxiously loud. So when I got there to help her set up I just kindly talked to her about it and she had no problem putting the alcohol away.
