Poop issues

My daughter is having hard poops. She's 6 months and eats baby foods. She's breastfed also and usually only goes every few days but here lately her poop has become hard and she's having a hard time getting it out. I called her doctor she said to give her a suppository. I'm not sure about that, I'm wanting something to help long term. Do y'all think I should just do what the doctor says or do y'all have something else that could help? Prunes really help soften it up but I can't get her to eat them too often.
