TTC #2 at 43 - losing hope

We have been TTC #2 for 7 months after a MC in November. I saw my OB/GYN Friday and he said that in 26 years of practice he has only had one patient conceive naturally and carry to term at 44. He said 41 & 42 it's more common to conceive and carry to term, but mid-40's he sees a lot of MC for those who successfully conceive. IVF is probably not an option for us and since I ovulate consistently every month he doesn't think Clomid will help. We are checking blood work and will go from there but I'm really disheartened as I don't want my daughter to be an only child and it's looking like that will be the case.
