This is what my now ex said to me today about my 5yr old.
It started when my kid told him "you better go back to Taco Bell and get me a quesadilla" jokingly. I told him not to talk like that, but normally when he talks to his dad or grandpa like that being a tough guy and it'll end in a play fight or getting tickled, he doesn't act demanding like that being serious. Anyway, thoughts? 
Oh and after this argument he tells me that we're better off fuck buddies or nothing else 😂 ladies I am LIVID right now.

He probably just doesn't know a lot about kids. Kids don't understand social norms like adults do. And yes, it's our job to teach them, of course. But he's 5 and not thinking about how he's going to word things. Your ex needs to understand that asking for things politely is a learned behavior. I've worked with a lot of kids and that's normal to have to correct them.

I don't allow my kids to speak to me or others like that. Not even joking. I'm pretty sure if they went to school talking that way, it would be corrected. While they may try it, it shouldn't be allowed. It comes across as rude, smart ass behavior. I know for a fact my parents would have corrected me as well. If you plan on a long term relationship with him, you may want to consider googling The Smart Stepfamily. It would help you two communicate through these differences. I have a stepchild. I wouldn't allow her to speak to me lol that either. I'm sincerely not trying to judge you. I think maybe your judgment is clouded by your love for your child and mommy heart. Sometimes parents let kids get away with things they shouldn't bc they're so cute, but no one else really thinks it is. And it's easy to feel defensive bc he's your kid.

Boys are very different from girls. They are rough physically and verbally! Lol. But with most it's not intentional. Your ex clearly doesn't know how to interact with him well. 
And sometimes even joking, it's ok to correct kids in a pleasant way. They are still learning. 
Just teach your son that sometimes it's ok with dad and grandad but with others it's not. 
As for your ex.....let him fly with the wind!!! 😂
