Midwife didn't check heartbeat??

Question

I had my 2nd ultrasound today at 10w4d and midwife said everything's looking good. She said she could see the heart flickering but that they don't actually check or hear heart rate until after 12w. My next appointment is 14.5 weeks which feels quite late to get heartbeat confirmation. Has anyone else experienced this??

No you hear heart beat as early as 6wks trust me I have an U/S from 6wks and I definitely heard and saw my baby's heart beating you should get a 2nd opinion.

I had an ultrasound at 5 weeks 3 days, then again at 7 weeks 6 days. Both times we could see the flickering heartbeat. I won't have another ultrasound until August 15th, I will be 20 weeks 5 days. However I was checked with a Doppler once a month. First time at 10 weeks 5 days, we could find it (that's normal though). Second time was at 14 weeks 5 days and we could find it briefly. More recent I was 18 weeks and 5 days and we found it! So I guess what I'm trying to say is that every experience and pregnancy is different. I feel like if something was wrong your midwife would for sure tell you!

I heard and saw the heartbeat at 7 weeks.

That sounds normal, my office doesn't check for a heartbeat with the Doppler until the second appointment. We saw it on the ultrasound around 10 weeks (first appointment) and heard it at 14 weeks.

They didn't let me hear it til my second trimester scan. Which was 20 wks. I heard it with a Doppler both at home and office before I did on an ultrasound.

My doc didn't let us hear it until 13 weeks because he said it could be harmful before that.

I'm in the UK. 
I paid for an early private scan and the tech said she could see the heartbeat and showed us on the screen - didn't hear it.
Had my 12 week scan and same thing. 
Baby was playing ball for all the measurements so went back for another at 15 weeks - same. Just showed us it flickering. 
Went for my 16 week midwife appointment and she got the Doppler out- was amazing to hear! Xx

I think it just depends on your doctors office. I can't remember the first time they let us hear the heartbeat, I want to say it was around 12 weeks, but before that, they didn't do it because I had 2 ultrasounds. They can tell if it's a healthy heartbeat by the flickering just as well by using a Doppler.

In Canada, that's a typical time to hear the heartbeat for the first time. And it really depends on each pregnancy here as to when you get a first ultrasound, it can be anywhere from 6-20 weeks
