Yucky hospital gowns, can I wear my own?!

Our hospital has the ugliest, itchyest, uncomfortable gowns I've ever seen. They are very used and barely tie in the back. Ive seen birthing/hospital gowns online for around 30 dollars and I am totally willing to spend this just for the comfort while in labor. Do most hospitals allow this? Anyone else order their own hospital gown, what brand, where from? If I do decide to get one, I dont even know what to look for in the right gown. Any advice helpful. Thanks in advance!

Wear what is comfortable for you, be it a gown, PJs, yoga pants, shorts. You've got lots of options and leeway in making your own decisions for labor and delivery. If you want to delay being monitored or having an IV placed, ask. If you don't want your cervix checked, tell them no checks. If you don't want to be asked bout your pain level, say so. If you want to remove all the clocks in your room, do it or ask them to. You're in control, Mama!

I bought two hospital gowns. This one for labor and delivery and a black one for postpartum. They were much easier nurse than the hospital gowns they have. Mine is from baby be mine.

I was thinking the same thing before I had my daughter. Trust me, when you're in labor you don't care what you're wearing lol! Childbirth is so gross that you will need to change anyway. I peed on the floor, had blood everywhere, and my water broke in the bed. I also just left the gown on after even though I brought my own PJs. We did a lot of skin to skin in the hospital to help with nursing. And the gown just made it easier. But I would say bring what you would feel comfortable in and keep and open mind 😊

Just ask to be sure but a lot of hospitals allow it. I bought 2 cheap soft nightgowns from Walmart that had buttons so I could nurse. I wore one before, took it off for pushing, and wore the other one after. It was soooo much better than the hospital gowns and even if they got ruined I was only out like $14. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I ordered n awesome gown from pretty pushers. It has a tie halter for breast feeding a tie if the front for fetal moniterinh, and a low back in case you want an epidural. It looks like a cute beach cover up, it was great for me and I felt great in it.

Yes but keep in mind you are going to be uncomfortable anyway. They don't call it labor for nothing. Also child birth is absolutely disgusting. Lots of fluids, blood, and sometimes even poopoo. After having both my sons, I didn't want to wash anything like that. I tried to leave anything I could because of germs too.

Yes! They cannot force you to where the gowns. However: water breaking, blood, and if you want an epidural or need an emergency spinal block for a csection, they go through the spine. I'm brining a robe for my VBAC. Buuut if things go south then it a stinky old gown. You can labor in what you want though!

I bought a nice comfy gown for mine and was super excited about it...but I didn't end up wearing it lol in that moment the last thing you're going to be concerned about is what you're wearing. Plus between blood and poop and throw up and everything else that comes out of your body, you're not going to want to ruin something nice that you just spent money on.
