Forever Alone?

Question

Was there a time where you thought you'd be "forever alone" (single forever) and now you're not? I'm sure many people have, but I feel like I'm at that point and haven't had an official boyfriend for over 2 1/2 years and don't see anything heading that way. I'm starting to feel like I'll never have one again 😂😂 just need some motivation to help me know I won't be like this forever!

I was single from 22 to 28 when I found an amazing person who I want to spend the rest of my life with. Be patient and use this time to work on yourself: pick up a hobby, develop friendships, learn a skill. Just have fun and enjoy life.

When I was 18 I hit a really low point in my life... I found myself in one abusive relationship after another & thought that I was never going to find true happiness. I honestly wanted to give up, but then I met my current boyfriend who I've been with for almost 3 years. Have faith, & it'll work out ☺️

Yes, I went through a LONG relationship drought (15 years). I went on a date here or there but nothing ever past a second date. I finally found my husband and couldn't be happier!

Yes, I did feel that way. So I started focusing on myself and working on myself. I started with figuring out what my positive characteristics were and what my negative characteristics were. Then I started working on those negative characteristics. I did a lot of work on changing my negative mindset and accepting those certain negative parts of myself that I didn't feel like I could change, and learning how to love myself regardless of them. I spent a period of time completely alone and I was perfectly fine with it finally. Before that I had been through failed relationship after failed relationship. That's what caused me to take a good look at myself and figure out what it was about me that was not ready to be in a relationship. I had trust issues, I was insecure, I didn't know my worth, didn't understand that I deserved real honest and true love, I was settling because I thought it was all I deserved. Once I began healing these things, my life changed. And eventually I found my fiancé when I was 33 years old. My advice to you is, look within yourself and see what needs to be healed. Do it now while you are young. Don't wait too long like I did. Of course you can only look within yourself and begin healing once you are aware of the pain you're carrying around. Anyway, you won't be alone forever. There is an infinite amount of love out there and some of it is for you. So do the work on yourself and then everything you want will fall right into place.

I planned on being alone for the rest of my life. Left my abusive ex husband 11 years ago, raising 3 kids by myself. The plan was to get them thru school and out into the great big world and move to a mountaintop and be a hermit (seriously). I never realized how depressed I was and how ok I was with it.  Met the love of my life and best friend April 2016, we got married Nov 2016. My youngest will be 18 in December and graduated from high school next June. I'm moving to Manchester, UK next fall with the hubby so we can have lots of sex and babies together (hopefully).  
You won't be forever alone, but there may be times, possibly years, of being alone. Count it as "me" time.

I'm 38. I didn't find my Prince Charming until I was 33, he was 23 at the time. Been together almost 5 years. I was not looking. I had blown off men and was focusing on myself. After a major break up I took a year and a half and Worked on my self esteem and self worth and confidence. Became a strong independent woman that didn't tolerate bs. 6 months after that he found me. I blew him off told him you are better off alone than in bad company. He pursued me for 6 months. I told him sex isn't a priority that a relationship was and that if he got it that it would not be regularly. Figured that would have sent him heading for the hills. It didn't. I made him wait a year and a half for it. Best decision I ever made. He was the first guy that I made wait. We took things slow and got to know each other well. We are best friends. I wasn't feeling hopeless. Previous to him I bounced from one worse to the next. Guys that hides used and abused me. Psycho stalkers. My rock bottom was an abusive gang member that beat the crap out of me. I was alone for a good 4 or 6-8 years I can't remember honestly after that. Took a long time to heal and trust anyone. I've that time I found a friend from childhood. Had summer flings I guess you would say. Here and there over different summers. I'm trying to remember I think after my first psycho stalker I was like a vegetable mentally. I used to stare at the popcorn ceiling and I definitely felt hopeless and worthless then. I sure knew how to pick them. But had I not gone through all that crap. I wouldn't be as strong as I am today. I wouldn't have appreciated as much as I do, the decent good guy that I have now had I not know what crap was out there before. The best advice I can give you is work on yourself. Inside and out. If you aren't happy then you change what you can and what you can't change you learn to love, accept and embrace. The right guy will admire your independence and intelligence and not think she's high maintenance. You don't have to sleep with the right ruby to get him to like you back. A guy knows in 5 minutes how he perceives you. Is she wife material or someone I see as a potential mate. Is she someone I can take advantage of and tell her what she wants to hear and use or or no I'm not going here. The right guy will be willing to make every effort and sacrifice and compromise to be with you. Like my guy. He practically worships the ground that I walk on. Wait for that guy. I wish I would have stayed single and spared myself so much bs. While all your friend have guy's that use and take advantage of them or get pregnant or are miserable with their baby daddies or ex husbands or relationships that don't work out. Enjoy your life being less complicated. Most of the girls that I went to high school with have ex husbands and baby daddies and are miserable on their second or third marriage. Life is a lot less complicated without the excess baggage. Enjoy it. Read books. Learn a language. Volunteer. Enrich your soul and your mind. Get a job. Keep yourself busy then you don't have time to feel lonely. Walk dogs or babysit they will comfort you and fulfill the need to feel needed. Keep your head up things will get better

Oh yes. Many many many times. I had never had a serious relationship, went about 4 1/2 years without being in any kind of relationship at all. My late teens and early twenties were pretty much one long time of "I'm never going to find someone". I started dating my husband at about 25. Now I wonder why I couldn't have just been patient and enjoyed the single time I had.

Yes. When my fwb cut things off a few years ago I was devastated because I was so in love with him. Then a week later we started dating and now we are married with 2 kids. Things get better:)
