Are any of you doctors/surgeons or in med school?

I'm currently majoring in biomedical science in hopes of going to med school and becoming a surgeon! My question is, how was your experience with med school and getting in? If you're not intending on becoming a doctor, but still in med school, or majoring in anything medical, feel free to tell me everything about your experience! ☺️

I'm not but I just wanted to say I think it's really cool that you want to be a surgeon! We need more people interested in medicine!

Depends what country you’re in! The US med admissions is super competitive

Just work hard and follow your heart. It helps to find a physician in your area to mentor you. I do that with many young people who come shadow me in my office now. Good luck!

Medical school is rough for sure but also one of the most fulfilling, exciting, enlightening times. I made amazing friends for life and now have a job that I love. Medicine has changed a lot in the last 20 years and many older physicians will warn young people not to do it, but for docs like me who don't know the difference I say, just know that it is much more bureaucratic and political than it used to be and if you can deal with the regulations and the ever changing rules and all the time spent documenting then go for it!
