Anyone have abnormal cells before???

Question

Has anyone ever had abnormal Pap smear results?? I got a call from my doctor today saying that I have to go in for a colposcopy and biopsy to make sure abnormal cells on my cervix aren't cancerous. I'm kind of freaking out and I have to wait a month for my appointment! I'm just really hoping it's not something serious. My husband and I just started ttc and now I guess we have to put it off until I get these results. It's so scary and frustrating!

I have had several abnormal ones.  Next step is the colposcopy. If that comes back abnormal or with highly mutated cells you may have a leep procedure (they take a micro layer off your cervix).  It should not affect your chances of ttc at all.  It's rather common.  Still very scary but very common.  Hang in There! You being healthy is the number one thing for ttc.  Good luck!

This is very common and does NOT mean you have cancer.  Even if the colposcopy shows high grade changes that need to be removed it just means that the cells could potentially turn into cancer if left untreated. I had high grade changes 5 years ago and had them removed and all tests have been clear since then.

I had an abnormal Pap several years go. Got a coloscopy. Everything came back good. Did paps every 6 months for a few years. Nothing every came back abnormal after. Sometimes a Pap can come back abnormal bc they didn't do it right or got the wrong cells or there was something else. I just started TTC and got pregnant in the 2nd month trying. Don't fret, sweetie.

Yeah I got that last fall and had a colposcopy. Everything turned out fine.

i got an abnormal once, but they just had me come back a month later for another test. That one came back normal

Abnormal cells during a PAP are actually quite common. There could have been some blood on your cervix, or semen from the night before which are technically "abnormal" for a cervix. 
In my opinion, you have nothing more to worry about than any average person going in for their biannual PAP. Just be sure to keep the appointment and chances are, all will be okay.
