does being fat really affect your fertility

ok not looking for an argument ... im a bigger girl. 212lbs and 5 ft 6. im not enormous but i could stand to lose a few pounds or maybe 30. ..... will being overweight greatly reduce my chances of conceiving

its definitely still possible but ive heard that more fat holds more estrogen whoch messes up the balance, amongst other things. i would just say eat as healthy as you can & do a little bit of exercise & atleast youll be baby ready

I'm about the same as you just a little shorter. lol..My doctor told me if i wanted to raise my chances of getting pregnant I needed to lose 5% of my body weight. I worked out and are a little healtheir and about 3 months after losing 5%. I got pregnant. Now 21 weeks. Good Luck and Baby Dust!

i would say not necessarily. i had no problem getting pregnant and i weighed 340 when i got pregnant. im 38 weeks today and weigh 320 now. i have lost weight since being pregnant. haven't gained a pound. and the only pregnancy complication I've had is them having a hard time getting good ultrasound pictures. other than that my heart, lungs, baby and all my bloodwork has been perfectly healthy and fine. no preeclampsia or gestational diabetes or anything. I'd say it really depends on the person and health status. weight doesn't always define someones health. it can cause pcos but there are smaller girls that have it or endometriosis.

I think it does because me and my hubby have been together since 2008 and we tried and tried to get pregnant but nothing. December of last year we decided to be healthy and lose weight so we signed up to the gym. I had lost like 10 pounds in the first month and got pregnant sometime around that time. When I found out I was pregnant I was already 3 weeks. So yes I believe that fat has a big role in why some ppl struggle to get pregnant and I say some because I have a sister in law that is overweight and she has 5 kids so it all depends on your body.

I'm 224 lbs and 5'0. I know very awful, took me 9 months to get preggo and dr. Immediately put me as high risk for MC because of the weight. I would suggest losing weight if you can. But its not impossible to conceive if you're overweight. Wish I would've lost weight before just because I want the best for my baby and don't want to be the reason something happens to him or her.

It can, but overall health has more of an impact than weight alone. Carrying more weight creates risk if you do become pregnant as well, because complications can be exaggerated by weight. However, if you are experiencing regular periods and are otherwise living a healthy lifestyle, than chances of conceiving shouldn't be affected significantly. This is something your doctor can speak to you about and of course the recommendation is to be at a more optimal weight before pregnancy (because obviously we only gain more weight while pregnant), but not to say that you couldn't have a successful pregnancy how you are.
