Was I in the wrong?

This might be kinda long so I apologize in advance.

So, back in May, I signed up again on Tinder. It was a normal tinder run and I started talking to a few guys on there not really having much expectation about what was to come from it. I think at the beginning, I was talking to about 6 guys from there and as the summer progressed, some of them just weren't worth keeping around. Around June, there were two guys left. One guy that I was genuinely interested in as a potential boyfriend and another one who seemed more friend material. The guy who I was interested in made effort to see me and talk to me on a daily basis. Eventually, we met up and as of recently, are now together. The other guy hardly ever put forth any effort into conversations, he didn't talk about much else other than himself and he just wasn't really giving me a vibe that he was interested. However, recently, he had attempted to reach out to me quite frequently and I ignored it at first. Once he started to text me quite often, I told him that I was seeing someone. I guess he got mad because he hasn't said anything to me since. I was totally cool with being friends but I guess he wanted more. But I don't get how you could want more and then not put in any effort. I don't know, maybe I'm just looking at it differently but was I in the wrong? Should I have told him right away that I was in a relationship?
